BARDO NEWS: Follow-up on Poets Against War and Call for Contributors

POETS AGAINST WAR: Our profound appreciation to all those who read, wrote and contributed poems, links to poems and comments of such quality that they enrich this site for all. We are busy now preparing a summary and compiling the links and later this week everything will be delivered to you in a special post, which will also be loaded in as a page for easy access anytime.

CALL FOR CONTRIBUTORS/CONTRIBUTIONS: We are also deeply appreciative of the people and talents offered in response to our most recent outreach. Three volunteers from the Core Team are handling this project and we will get back to everyone shortly.

The focus of "The BeZine," a publication of The Bardo Group Beguines, is on sacred space (common ground) as it is expressed through the arts. Our work covers a range of topics: spirituality, life, death, personal experience, culture, current events, history, art, and photography and film. We share work here that is representative of universal human values however differently they might be expressed in our varied religions and cultures. We feel that our art and our Internet-facilitated social connection offer a means to see one another in our simple humanity, as brothers and sisters, and not as “other.” This is a space where we hope you’ll delight in learning how much you have in common with “other” peoples. We hope that your visits here will help you to love (respect) not fear. For more see our Info/Mission Statement Page.

  1. Well done, Jamie, your work in conceiving and realising the Poets against War, Poets for Peace week and the resultant web page is such a worthy cause.

Pulling this whole site and contributors together is not only worthy, but also admirable and quite frankly much needed by the world at large, because, at its core is a spiritual aspiration for the moral (and perhaps literary) high ground – and that is not, in any shape or form, intended to be an arrogant position – it is, above all, the fact that it is the mission of ‘Into The Bardo’ to present a pan-religious, non-partisan, de-polarised, maybe even universal picture of humanity and the challenges we face, that I applaud loudly and without reservation!

My thanks to you, Jamie, and to those few founding and most regular contributors, for all of this.

    Peace.

    1. John, thank you. I appreciate your support and your wonderful re-articulation of our mission in such clear terms. Bardo and its mission doesn’t rest on me though. So many – including you – have risen to the occasion, have enriched and broadened. It is our time, I think, and each of us alone is just the sound of one hand clapping. Together we are the growing thunder of joyful applause. We may never connect online or in person with the millions who feel the same way, but I am certain they do exist and therein lies the seed of possibility embedded in all those dire signs pointing to improbability.

  2. Wish I could have participated more, Jamie. Needing to limit computer use for a couple of weeks. It was a thought-provoking week. I look forward to the summary. Could this be the seed of something bigger…like a Kindle e-book? With a call for submissions on other blogs. Hmmm…

  3. Echo, Jamie “… therein lies the seed of possibility embedded in all those dire signs pointing to improbability.” Hear, hear! Doubters and detractors could do worse than listen to the voices of truth, forgiveness and reconciliation. Ooh, that last phrase reminds me of something I wrote about a while ago …
