You Just Never Know

Once upon a time, there was aย swamp that was home to many creatures, including…

…frogs.ย

Two frogs decided to see the world. ย They went hop-hop, hop-hop-, hop-hop down the road in search of adventure.

They came to a big farm, and croaked out a cheery greeting to the dairy cows.

Then they went inside the big barn to explore.

There were so many new and exciting things to see in there!

But as they jumped about, they accidentally landed in a big pitcherย of cream.

They tried to climb out, but the sides were too steep and slippery, and they slid back into the cream. Even frogs donโ€™t like to die: they tried everything they could think of to escape. ย When that didnโ€™t work, they tried everything they couldnโ€™t think of.

โ€œItโ€™s no use!โ€ said the first frog. โ€œWeโ€™re doomed!โ€ And he sank down into the cream and disappeared.

But that second little frogโ€ฆshe kept swimming about with all her tiny frog might, just to keep from drowning. ย The cream began toย block her eyes and nose. Just when she thoughtย she couldnโ€™t swim another stroke, she felt something strange beneath her feet. ย She was standing on a big lumpโ€ฆof butter! ย With the brave paddling of her own tiny frog legs, she had churned that cream into butter. ย She leaptย out of the bowl and went hop-hop, hop-hop, hop-hop down the road, in search of another adventure.

The focus of "The BeZine," a publication of The Bardo Group Beguines, is on sacred space (common ground) as it is expressed through the arts. Our work covers a range of topics: spirituality, life, death, personal experience, culture, current events, history, art, and photography and film. We share work here that is representative of universal human values however differently they might be expressed in our varied religions and cultures. We feel that our art and our Internet-facilitated social connection offer a means to see one another in our simple humanity, as brothers and sisters, and not as โ€œother.โ€ This is a space where we hope youโ€™ll delight in learning how much you have in common with โ€œotherโ€ peoples. We hope that your visits here will help you to love (respect) not fear. For more see our Info/Mission Statement Page.
