“Artist” ~ generally refers to people who express visually. Sometimes it refers to folks in the entertainment industry. In criticism it may also refer to other forms of expression…music, poetry, writing and so on. As used here and generally on this site, it refers to one who creates out of their inner vision, no matter what form of expression the creation takes. JAMIE DEDES ~ My worldly tags are poet and writer. I’m in my fifth year of blogging at The Poet by Day, the journey in poem, formerly titled Musing by Moonlight. Through the gift of poetry (mine and that of others), I enter sacred space.
The focus of "The BeZine," a publication of The Bardo Group Beguines, is on sacred space (common ground) as it is expressed through the arts. Our work covers a range of topics: spirituality, life, death, personal experience, culture, current events, history, art, and photography and film. We share work here that is representative of universal human values however differently they might be expressed in our varied religions and cultures. We feel that our art and our Internet-facilitated social connection offer a means to see one another in our simple humanity, as brothers and sisters, and not as “other.” This is a space where we hope you’ll delight in learning how much you have in common with “other” peoples. I remember hearing a celibate monk and author, Martin L. Smith, talk about his part in creativity. When asked if he felt his life vows kept him from co-creation, he said “I do create. I make meaning.” I always remember that.
