“Odd as I am sure it will appear to some, I can think of no better form of personal involvement in the cure of the environment than that of gardening. A person who is growing a garden, if he is growing it organically, is improving a piece of the world. He is producing something to eat, which makes him somewhat independent of the grocery business, but he is also enlarging, for himself, the meaning of food and the pleasure of eating.” Wendell Berry, The Art of the Commonplace: The Agrarian Essays

The focus of "The BeZine," a publication of The Bardo Group Beguines, is on sacred space (common ground) as it is expressed through the arts. Our work covers a range of topics: spirituality, life, death, personal experience, culture, current events, history, art, and photography and film. We share work here that is representative of universal human values however differently they might be expressed in our varied religions and cultures. We feel that our art and our Internet-facilitated social connection offer a means to see one another in our simple humanity, as brothers and sisters, and not as “other.” This is a space where we hope you’ll delight in learning how much you have in common with “other” peoples. We hope that your visits here will help you to love (respect) not fear. For more see our Info/Mission Statement Page.

  1. What wonderful thoughts expressed here.Indeed ‘let your garden grow with silver bells and cockle shells and pretty maids, all in a row. My husband and I have always been lovers of nature, have planted trees where ever we have lived, and now we have adopted a small area in front of our present living rented quarters, recruited two children(ages 10,6) to help keep the area clean. We will buy three tree saplings and plant them in a suitable place nearby Insha allah. may Allah help and guide us, to improve a piece of our home -this planet Earth.
